Maylea 4 months

I took Maylea in for her 4 month check up on Aug. 11th. She had to get her 4 month shots, but other than that noting really exciting to share. This was our last time seeing Dr. Milburn. We will just be seeing a family practice Dr. until they hire a pediatrician. Luckily for us we have had healthy children. I just need to make sure someone will give her her 6 month shots.

I have not started cereal with her yet....don't really have a good reason for it. With Cooper I started at 4 months, but they are now recommending that you wait until 6 months. I am not sure we will wait that long, but she sleeps pretty well so I don't see a huge need for it yet. As soon as we do, I will post pictures of that first bite!

Height 26 inches (100%)
Weight 14 lbs. 10 oz. (92%)
Head 15 3/4 in. (30%)

Maylea is tall (long) and skinny. At 4 months, she weighs what Cooper did at 2 months (14 lbs 13 oz), but she is the same length that he was at 4 months. I may end up being the shortest in the family!

I know that I need to post some pictures of her. I promise I will....

1st visit to the dentist

I took Cooper to visit the dentist for the first time. I tried to "pump" him up for it because he isn't always open to new things/people. He normally does pretty good, but if he is in a mood there is no getting anything done with him. He was SO excited to go, plus he knew that we were going swimming once he was done. All week he kept saying, "momma, I go to dentist to get my teeth brushed today?"

Once we got there I could tell he was going to be a little timid, but all in all he did alright. When he got into the room they had some sunglasses laying out for him to wear....he thought that was "AWESOME". He would were them for awhile, and then take them off. He was a bit timid at for awhile (and ornery) but once the hygienist gave him the "sucking straw" and let him be in charge of it, he did great. They were able to get his teeth cleaned and do a fluoride treatment. We tried to do x-rays, but he started to gag on the film so we stopped.

The dentist came in to look at his teeth. Cooper was skeptical of what she was going to do, but once she got out her "tooth counter" (the mirror and pick) and she told him he could help her count he was fine. They counted all 20 teeth, they all looked good, and we were done.

Cooper picked out his Sponge Bob toothbrush and we were headed to the pool.

Motorcycle

Our friends Brandon and Natalie stopped by back in July to drop off Cooper's birthday present. They road the motorcycle out to the house and Cooper just HAD to have a ride. When Brandon told him he could have a ride, he said, "wait, I need my helmet." He ran inside, and came out with his football helmet. He was so excited!!!!

Swimming

Every time we have gone over to visit our friend Terri, Cooper has asked to go swimming in their pool. One time while we were there Larry, Terri's husband, promised Cooper he would take him swimming when he was in town. While Cooper stayed with grandma and grandpa this weekend we made sure Larry stayed true to his promise.

Cooper had a great time swimming and going off the diving board.

Cooper is showing them how he can "dive" into the pool.
Cooper is at an age where he has quite an imagination. This is his pirate ship and he made Larry pull him around on it.
Cooper is showing grandma how he can swim underwater like Larry was doing. Blowing bubbles
floating on his back and kicking

Updates....

Okay, I have pictures and could do about 4 more posts, but this will have to do for now. I need to get back on the road home. I will be sure to let everyone know how Maylea's 4 month check up goes. I will probably put that post on Thursday afternoon!

Enjoy!!!!!

Christmas in July

When mom and dad came down to help celebrate Cooper's birthday, they brought Cooper and Maylea's Christmas present with them. Joshua put it together the next day (6 hrs.) all by himself. Cooper has not gotten to play on it to much due to potty training, but he enjoys it when he does. The only "problem" is (as with everything else) Cooper does not like to go out and play by himself. He wants mommy or daddy to come and play with him. I wish he enjoyed playing by himself and I could just watch him through the window.....NOPE!!! He is just like his mother as a child, always needs to be entertained.

At the park

Megan (Cooper's former babysitter) and I made arrangements to get together at the park so that the kids could play together again. Cooper loved Megan as a babysitter (Megan had him from 6 months till he was 2 1/2) he still prays for her every night when he says his "Amens"

We met at Peter Pan Park and the kids played for about an hour. Then it started to get busy and warm so we decided to leave. The kids all played VERY well and had a great time. Cooper was so excited to see his old friends.

Katie is Megan's niece (her twin sister's daughter). Katie went to daycare with him. The other 3 kids are Megan's.

Baby Tristan (7 weeks old) This is Katie's new little brother.

Maylea 3 months

Maylea did not have a 3 month check up so I don't have any details for you. However, she did roll over (back to tummy) for the first time on her 3 month "birthday". She even waited until daddy came home and could see it. Maylea does not really like to be on her belly, but every time she lays on her back she rolls over.....then gets angry.

We go to the Dr. for her 4 month check up on the 12th. I will post the details for you. This will be our last visit with our current pediatrician. Dr. Milburn turned in his resignation and is leaving in Sept. He was the only pediatrician in Emporia, so not sure yet what we will do!!!! He has been a great Dr. to both our kids. The guy has NO bed side manner, but is a VERY good Dr.

Bear for size.

3rd Birthday

Cooper had a whole lot of birthday fun!! We spent the day of his actual birthday in Salina with some cousins. My cousin, Brian's, kids were staying the week with my Godparents, Aunt Judy and Uncle Jerry (their grandparents). Cooper, Maylea, and I drove there so that Cooper could play with the boys for a little while. They played very well together and had a good time. Aunt Judy had even bought some special "birthday" cookies for them to all eat to celebrate Cooper's birthday....they even sang to him.

Aunt Judy and Maylea
Cooper got another special present all the way from TX. He got this adorable teddy bear wearing a sweatshirt with a picture of Jackson and Cooper. In the picture, you can't see it, but Cooper and Jackson both have on a t-shirt that says Big Brother. Jackson will be a big brother in October.

Cooper got a "Big Boy Bike" from mommy and daddy for his birthday. Cooper does not ride it very well on gravel.....however he does very well on concrete.

The weekend following Coopers birthday mom and dad were able to come down to celebrate his birthday. We had the annual "Save the Pool" festival at our city park. We all (our family, Joshua's dad and step mom, and mom and dad) went to the park and ate dinner (everything is a donation to saving the pool). Then we went to the house, opened presents, and ate cake. Mom made the cutest "M&M" dispenser (would say bubble gum, but you will understand when you see the presents) cake. She did a great job, and we all enjoyed eating it. After cake we went back to the park for the ice cream social.

Mom had ordered these cute M&M to put into the dispenser for Cooper. He always says, "mommy, can I have some M&M's? The ones with the Cooper's on them."
