Maylea moving around

I caught Maylea trying to crawl around this morning so I grabbed the camera to get a shot of it. You can see Cooper on the floor with her watching Handy Manny and completely oblivious to what Maylea and I are doing.

Keeping grandma company

Cooper laid in bed with grandma and watched a movie. She has "set up camp" in the spare bedroom for the time being and there is no TV in there. Cooper and grandma got the portable DVD player and watched a movie together. I ran over to Cori's to drop something off, but I brought Maylea in to join them when I got back. Maylea didn't get to stay for too long.

Maylea 5 months

I don't have much to update about Maylea's 5 months b/c there is no Dr. appt. until 6 months. The pictures I have added are not much different that some of the pictures you have seen in the past, but put them on anyway. Maylea is growing up so fast. She is a very laid back little girl, and the morning is still her best time of day. Joshua even commented the other day that it is worth getting up early in the morning just to play with her b/c she is in such a good mood.

She has been rolling over for a month now, but she is really starting to get around the floor. She has just started rolling multiple times here in the last week. This weekend she has started to tuck her knees up under her when she is trying to reach for something. She gets mad that she isn't getting anywhere, but she is really working at it.

The video at the bottom was taken a week ago. Maylea's first attempt at cereal. I was really going to try and hold off until closer to 6 months, but she is still not sleeping all that well and I thought maybe this would help....it does!!!! I usually try to feed her around 7:30 or so when I get home and she is usually good for the night.

The video is not great. The lighting is bad and ONCE AGAIN I turned the camera the wrong way and cannot flip it the correct direction. It is 6:30 in the morning, dark, no one else was up, and I was trying to stay quiet. She did pretty well for it being her first time. She was grabbing for the spoon and seemed to like it. Then all of a sudden this week she stopped eating it. I picked up some sweet peas at the store and mix in a little bit of them. She seems to really like them. I have not had any problems getting her to eat the cereal and she is figuring out how to open her mouth the correct way.

Caught her just as she was about to roll.

Maylea and Daddy

Our little soccer player

Playing soccer has been something that Cooper has talked about forever. Joshua has been coaching and older team for 2 years (4 seasons) and Cooper has always gone to practice/games with him. The kid has been "playing" soccer since he could walk. The older kids that Joshua coaches have always been really good with Cooper at practice. They let him play with them during breaks, let him shag balls, and include him when they can.

This year Cooper is old enough to play, however, there was a catch. Cooper had to be potty trained or daddy wouldn't let him play. Oh how that finally worked. Cooper was finally completely potty trained the week of sign-up.

The age division that Cooper plays in (and Joshua coaches) is more instructional that anything. They get together on Monday nights when all the other kids play and they "practice" for about 20 min. Joshua was a bit concerned that he had gotten in over his head with these little kids, but from what I saw he did a good job. He had the kids do a few drills together and then let them play for about 5 min. Almost all the kids seemed to keep their interest into what was going on.

Surprisingly, Cooper was not as into playing as we thought he would be. He has talked about playing and has asked to play for so long that I didn't think we would be able to get him off the field. Not the case. He actually quit in the middle of practice and said he was done. Grandma Sheri (mom and dad came to watch) had to entice him back onto the field. Eventually he went, but still threw a fit when the ball got taken away from him......lovely, yes that is my son crying on the field. Mom seemed to think that maybe it was b/c all the other kids had a parent working with them and he didn't, who knows. I am not working tomorrow, so I will try to make it to practice and help him out.

Although he was sitting out, this is one of my favorite pictures.

Hotel room in KC

I didn't add this to the next post (weekend in KC) b/c I couldn't get the pictures at the bottom of the post like I wanted them to be, and I didn't want to start all over.

When we were in KC we stayed at a Holiday Inn in downtown KC (by the Power and Lights district/ Sprint Center). This hotel was a block and a half from the reception, so we were able to walk to and from. This Holiday in was very unique. It is OLD, but they have fixed it up to make it very nice and modern. The rooms, hallways, and elevators were supper small. However, they have remodeled them and they are very up to date.

Cooper thought this whole experience was pretty cool. Though out the day he would ask, "when do we get to go back to our new home?" We had to explain that it wasn't a home, but a place for us to sleep while we were away from home. He loved the idea of having his own bed.....I had to get a couple of pictures.

Weekend in KC

Labor Day weekend we went to KC with the kids for Jen's, a college roommate, wedding. The wedding was late Sunday evening so we went up early Sunday morning to enjoy our day. We check into our hotel room (as you read about in the post above), I ironed our clothes for the wedding, and we headed to Crown Center for lunch.

Josh had been told about a burger joint called Fritz's (thanks Rob). You sit down and call your order in with the phone on your table. They bring your drinks out to you, but your food is delivered by train. There are train tracks that run along the ceiling. Each train pulls a basket behind it, and then drops the basket on a tray that is lowered down to your table. Cooper thought this was the coolest thing every!!! We were afraid we wouldn't get him to eat because he was so into watching all the trains. We really enjoyed ourselves and were SO glad that we decided to go.

That evening we enjoyed ourselves at the wedding. Cooper danced his little heart out. So much so that he fell asleep in my lap around 10. This NEVER happens. My son does not stop until you make him stop. My friend Kylie from Colby was in the wedding. Her little girl Kenlee and Cooper kept talking about how they wanted to dance together, but neither one of them would dance with the other. We tried to take their pictures together a couple times, but Kenlee wanted nothing to do with it. Finally she fell asleep and I was able to get a picture of her....HA! We all had a good time and it was great to see friends.
Jen and Brock: Congratulations!!! Everything was beautiful.....especially the bride!!!!! Enjoy your life together.
